::Pushtimargiya Utsav Bhav Bhavna::

Faagan Shukla – 15 - Mahamahotsav - Dolotsav - Shree Chandravaliji's Pradhanotsav

Today is the Maha-Mahotsav Dolotsav. This Mahamahotsav marks the pinnacle of the excitement of this utsav. This Maha-Mahotsav marks the end of the special seva routine of Shree Swaminiji Shree Chandravaliji. Thus at the end of each seva routine of each Swaminiji, a Maha-mahotsav is celebrated. Since these three months were done with the bhav of Shree Chandravaliji, the seva kram ends with Dolotsav - Mahamahotsav, which is also known as Chandravaliji's Pradhanotsav i.e. the main utsav of Shree Chandravaliji.

Bhav Bhavna of Dolotsav by Shree Hariraiji Mahaprabhuji:

Dol: means the large swing made from creepers, flowers, leaves at different places i.e. Shree Girirajji, Shree Nandalay, Shree Yamuna Pulin etc , on which, Shree Thakurji and Shree Swaminiji swings together while other women friends (Gopis) sprinkles colored water, powders (Abir, Gulal etc) on the couple and amongst each other.

Dolotsav is a very secret divine sport of Shree Krishna. Shree Vrishbhanji (Father of Shree Radhikaji) and Shree Kirtiji (Mother of Shree Radhikaji) invites their son-in-law Shree Krishna at their place and offers different types of samagris. After that, entire family plays Hori by sprinkling colors like Abir, Gulal etc on each other. After that Shree Prabhu returns to Nanadalay. At Nandalay also, Shree Yasodaji and Shree Nanadraiji enjoys the Hori with Shree Krishna with Vatsalya Rasa. On the other side, Shree Prabhu also enjoys the Dol with Swaminijis at Nikunj with Madhurya Rasa (Shrungar Ras). The Dol takes place at Vrindavan, Shree Govardhan where three types of breeze is blowing i.e.

1. Manda (Gentle)

2. Sugandhit (Scented)

3. Sheetal (Cold)

The above type of breeze is also known as "Trividha Pavan" which is often noted in Pushtimargiya kirtan sahitya.

The Dol is constructed from various creepers, plants, perfumed flowers at Shree Vrindavan, Shree Girirajjji etc. With the bhav of Putra (Son) and Pati (Husband), Vrajbhkatas prays to Lord that Vrindavan, Govardhan, Yamuna,Gokul etc all the divine samagris are only for the happiness and enjoyment for Shree Krishna. In this way Shree Krishna acccepts these things in form of 'Dol' and swings in the heart of Bhaktas. To announce that Shree Prabhu always swings in bhaktas heart, Dol is created. Thus, through the Dol, Shree Prabhu accepts Trees, plants, flowers, creepers and makes them celestial, heavenly and supernatural. Thus one of the names of Shree Krishna is 'Bhakta Purakaay Namah" i.e. the one who satisfies the desires (divine) of Devotees (Bhaktas). Knowing these types of desires of bhaktas, Shree Krishna did the divine sports of Dol at four pleaces:

1. Dol at Shree Govardhan

2. Dol at Kunj

3. Dol at Shreemad Gokul

4. Dol at Yamuna Pulin (Banks of Shree Yamunaji)

The question may arise in the mind that why do they pray to Shree Thakurji since in pushtimarg, we never demand anything from Shree Thakurji since wellbeing and happiness of Shree Thakurji. The answer is below:

The creepers, flowers, trees, etc of Braj are all bhagawad Bhaktas (Devotees of Shree Krishna), who always are engaged in serving Shree Prabhu. They all wanted to serve Shree Krishna in one or other ways and thus they prayed to Lord.

Same way, Gopis also had this desire and thus prayed to Lord by serving through various ornaments, clothes and offerings to Shree Prabhu.

The Vrindavan, Govardhan, Gokul, Yamunaji, creepers of braj, trees etc are all pushtimargiya bhagavadiyas, thus they are known as 'Haridas Varya'.

All these are divine and are Uddipan Vibhavas.

Dolotsav is a Ras Leela and thus took place at Shree Girirajji etc.

Question: If Dolotsav is Ras Leela, then how this is possible at Gokul before Shree Yasodaji and Nandraiji.

Answer: Dolotsav is a secret divine sports of Shree Krishna wherein, the presence of Shree Baldevji and Gop Balaks is not possible. Here is the bhav at Shreemad Gokul.

Shree Yasodaji with the Vatsalya Ras, constructs a very beautiful Dol (Swing). This Dol was constructed with the help of 16 thousand Agni Kumarikas who were staying at Nandalay. Also other swaminijis like Shree Chandravaliji, Shree Lalitaji etc are called at Nandalay and Shree Yasodaji orders them to make Shree Thakurji swing in Dol and thus with the external bhav of Innocence and inner bhav of Madhurya, Shree Thakurji and Shree swaminijis enjoys Dol at Gokul. Shree Yasodaji also orders them to make Shree krishna play so much that he gets fed up playing hori and thus this utsav marks the end of Vasant. In this way, all swaminjis gets a very wonderful opportunity to play hori before all with Shree Krishna and feels graced. All the swaminijis constructed the Dol and made Shree Thakurji swing during the Uttara-Falguni Nakshatra.

Question: Why is this known as Maha-Mahotsav?

Answer: The utsav in which, the badhai of 'Naubat' is observed before 8 days and daily new clothes, ornaments and samagris is offered, entire seva routine is observed with celebration, whole day, abir, gulal, chova and chandan is sprinkled, in the middle of the utsav, four bhogs are offered, before 40 days, the badhai of Jhanj is observed, Dehli Bandanmaal is tied up, is known as Maha-Mahotsav. Thus this utsav is known as Maha-Mahotsav.

Utsav Seva Routine:

Today the adhivasan of Dol is done. After that, Bhog is offered to Shree Prabhu. After that khel takes place. Like this, four times bhog is offered and all Goswami Balaks, Bahujis and Betijis plays hori with Shree Prabhu. Al last, Kirtanijajis, Sevaks, vaishnavs plays Hori and thus marks the end of Utsav. After that entire mandir is cleaned up so that not even a small particle of color remains. After that Utthapan Darshan is opened.
