Asaadh Shukla 15 – Asaadhi Poonam, Vyas Poornima, Guru Poornima
This is also known as ‘Parvottam Utsav’ or ‘Chartur Mas Aarambh’.
Today is the appearance day of one of 24 bhagwad avatars of Lord Shree Krishna i.e. Shree Ved Vyasji.
According to the ‘Pramaan Chatushtaya’ of Pushtimarg,
“Vedaha ShreeKrushna Vaakyaani Vyas SutraniChaivahi | Samadhi Bhasha Vyasasya Pramanam Tatchatushtayam |”
Thus, since Shree Ved Vyasji is one of the 24 bhagwad avataras, pushtimarg observes Utsav today.
Shree Ved Vyasji is the effulgence of penance. Shree Ved Vyasji is the son of Shree Parasharji. Shree Shukdevji is the son of Shree Ved Vyasji. As a maryada bhav, today, the Poojan of Shree Gurudev is done as a Lord. But in pushtimarg, everyday, every moment, seva of Shree Gurudev is done. This could be observed in Nitya seva routine. For e.g. None of the seva routine gets initiated without taking agya and remembering Shree Gurudev. Also in pushtimarg, according to the famous Ashraya pad by Shree Surdasji i.e. ‘Dradh ina charan kero bharoso’, Shree Surdasji conveys to vaishnav shrushti that one must not see any difference between Shree Gurudev and Shree Prabhu i.e. ‘Sur Kaha Kahe Dwividh Andharo’. Even in our eternal religion according to Shastras, Shree Gurudev’s swaroop is regarded as Shree Prabhu. According to below shloka:
“Gurur Brahmaa Gurur Vishnu GururDevo Maheshwarah | Guru Shakshaat ParBrahm Tasmay Shree GuruveNamah ||”
In Vallabh Sampraday, total four swaroops of Shree Gurudev and Vaishnav can be experienced. Vaishnav can be Satvik, Rajasic, Tamasic and Nirguna (This gunas are not mundane but transcendental). Same way, Shree Gurudev can also be experienced in one of these forms. This is clear from the above shloka. Shree Brahmaaji is the Rajoguni Devta and is the creator of Brahmaand. Same way, Shree Gurudev in pushtimarg, is a creator of Pushti Shushti. Shree Shankarji is Tamasic Devta who destroys the Universe. Same way, Shree Gurudev in pushtimarg destroys the doshas of Pushti Bhakta like ‘Dukh’, ‘Kaam’, ‘Krodha’, ‘Moha’, ‘Mad’, ‘Matsar’ etc. Shree Vishnu is the sustainer of the Universe. Same way, Shree Gurudev in Pushtimarg increases the bhav in pushti bhakta.
