List of Bethakji of Shree Mahaprabhuji and Charitra

At Gokul there are three Baithaks. The first Baithak is situated under Chookar tree by the bank of Yamuna river at Govind Ghat.

During his first pilgrimage, it was here that Shri Vallabhachryaji had asked his favorite disciple Damodardas Harsanijilaji the question, ”Damala, is this the Govind Ghat or Thakurani Ghat” ? At that moment a beautiful young woman adorned with divine ornaments appeared and said, “This is Govind Ghat. Thakurani Ghat is to your right.” This divine woman was Shri Yamunaji.

Here, Shri Nathaji (Lord Krishna) appeared in front of Shri Mahaprabhuji and gave him the Brahmasambandh Mantra (Initiation Formula). Shri Mahaprabhuji then adorned the Lord with a dhoti, a shawl (Uparna) and a pavitra.

Next day  Shri Damodardas Harsaniji was initiated by Shri Mahaprabhuji with this Brahmasambandh Mantra. He was the first Pushti Vaishnav.

Mahaprabhuji used to take his meals here and give divine discourses.

ShriNathaji Himself had advised the disciples of Shri Krishna Chaitanya that the right to His Personal services lay only in the hands of Shri Vallabhacharya Mahaprabhuji.
A Vrindavan saint approached Shri Mahaprabhuji with the intention to test his power. He arrived here and hung his Shaligram on a tree and went in to see Shri Mahaprabhuji. Upon returning, he noticed that his Shaligram was missing. He approached Shri Mahaprabhuji and complained that, “ perhaps your disciple has taken my Shaligram.”
Mahaprabhujui replied that no one has stolen his Shaligram and to go and see on the tree again. Upon returning to the tree he saw countless Shaligrams hanging from the tree. Feeling confused for not recognizing his own Shaligram, he approached Shri Mahaprabhuji. Shri Mahaprabhuji questioned him, “ How can you properly serve Shaligram, when you can not even recognize your own Shaligram?”  Shri Mahaprabhuji told him to again go back to the tree. Returning to the tree, he found the only one original Shailram. He reported the strange series of events to his guru brothers.

3rd  BAITHAK at GOKUL(Dwarkadhishji's Temple, Shayya Mandir)

Here Shri Mahaprabhuji used to stay over night for rest.

A yogi had been living at this spot for thousands of years. Seeing Shri Mahaprabhuji, he had realized his fruits of all the austerities.

Lord Shri Dwarkanathaji's temple was to be constructed on this site. Yogi was requested to leave this place. He refused, claiming to have Shri Maharabhuji's blessings to remain at this spot. When the temple was built, his hut sunk fortyfive feet beneath this temple.

Shri Gokulnathaji found insects in the offering to Lord. Asking for the reason for these phenomena, Lord said, “ Fruits are received according to one's action.”  You have not kept Shri Mahaprabhuji's promise to this yogi. Lord would not pardon you for the insult of a Vaishnav.

At Vrindavan, Prabhdas Jalota would not take the prasad offered to him because he had not taken the bath. Mahaprabhuji recited him the shloka which said,” In Vrindavan, Lord Krishna plays His flute under every tree and resides in His four-armed form within every leaf. In such a sacred land the dust is purifying.” Hearing this description, Prabhudas partook the prasad before taking his bath.

Gopaldas, a disciple of Krishna Chaitanyahad had a Deity of Shaligram. He desired a Deity which he could decorate with clothes and jewels. Shri Krishnachaitanya told him in dream, “ I do not have the right to give you one, and only Shri Mahaprabhuji has that right. When Mahaprabhuji arrived in Vrindavan, Gopaldas prayed to Him for deity. Shri Mahaprabhuji told him, “ If your sentiment is pure, then the Shaligram will be transformed into image of Lord Krishna. Lord Himself will accommodate everything. In the morning you will see the Shaligram being transformed.”  The following morning his Shaligram became transformed into the swaroop of Radha Ramanj. This was due to the grace of Mahaprabhuji!
In his next birth, Gopaldas became a renowned devotee of Pushti Marg, Gopal Naga.

At Mathura on the banks of Yamunaji River, the area was only a jungle. There was a graveyard near the place where the discourses were held. Shri Mahaprabhuji took the water from his pot-Kamandalu and told his disciple to sprinkle some water on the ground. At that moment the whole area became purified and habitable.

Here he met with the disciples of Shri Krishna Chaitanya and replied to their query about Pushti marg-a path of grace or path of nourishment? They did not understand his subtle reply. Shri Krishna Chaitanya was informed about this reply and hearing the reply he fell unconscious. When Shri Mahaprabhuji explained the transcendental significance of the reply, only he understood the true meaning of it and was very happy.

Above Vishram Ghat (Vishranti Ghat), the Muslim ruler had placed a spell (a charm) that if any Hindu passed under the arches, they would have their turf of hair (Choti) removed and would find themselves with a Muslim beard. Shri Mahaprabhuji and his followers passed unaffected under the spelled arches!
The Brahmins of Mathura approached Shri Mahaprabhuji and requested Him to put a permanent end to the spelled arches. By His advice they approached the local King, but he refused to remove the curse. Shri Mahaprabhuji then sent His disciples to Delhi in order to put a spell on all the gates within the city, whereby if any Muslim passed under them, he would find himself without a beard and carry with the Hindu tuft of hair on his head. The Emperor of Delhi summoned the disciples of Shri Mahaprabhuji and told them to remove this spell. They replied that it would only be removed when the charm at Mathura would be removed. The emperor realizing the powers of Mahaprabhuji became scared and ordered the spell at Mathura to be removed.

Shri Mahaprabhuji bathed in Shri Yamunaji and proceeded on the pilgrimage of the Braj land in the year 1480 A.D. This was the beginning of the Vraj Yatra.

This place is the first VAN (Jungle) of the twelve Vans of Vraj region.
Krishna had killed the devil Madhu (daitya) at this place.
Naradaji had a vision of Lord Krishna with four arms at this location.
Dhruv had worshipped here.

Lord Madhuvaniyan's temple is located here. Lord was attending Shri Mahaprabhuji's discourses on Bhagavataji here.  Lord had ordered his priest to perform His worship in the early morning, so He can  listen to Shri Mahaprabhuji's discourses daily.

Mahaprabhu Shri Vallabhacharyaji was so great, even the Lord used to listen to his religious talks.

Shri Mahaprabhji's beloved disciple Krishnadas Megan had asked the significance of this place to Him. Shri Mahaprabhuji replied:
In the SamVed it is explained that the cool beams of moon here enchanted Lord Krishna and Shri Radha. Shri Radha begged to Lord for a forest here with Kamod and Kumudini trees. The Lord carried out her wish and also made two ponds full of lotuses.

Here Shri Mahaprabhuji had given divine visions to his bhaktas (disciples). They were all absorbed in the celestial power to behold the divine form of Lord. They all lost consciousness. Shri Mahaprabhuji thought that they would not return to their material existences if their trans lasted too long. He took away their celestial sight , so all returned to material existence.

Here Lord Krishna had played the flute on Kadamb tree to invite the Vrajbhakts.
The famous Krushna Kund is part of this place.

This is the fourth Van of the Vraj area, in the village of Bathi.

Here there are temples of Bahulabihariji and Bahula cow.
A story of Bahula cow can be found in Padma Puran:
Once Dharmaraja, in the form of a lion, visited this jungle to kill cows. All the cows except Bahula had escaped at the sight of this lion. Lion wanted to kill Bahula. She requested him to wait till she can go and feed her child. She promised him to return after that. She did return. Impressed with her honesty and truthfulness, lion revealed his true identity of Dharmaraja. When the cow died the people of this village started worshipping her by installing a stone statue of this cow.

The Muslim King of this area prohibited them from worshipping this cow. The king proclaimed that worship could only be commenced when the cow would actually eat grass. During his visit to this place, Shri Mahaprabhuji was informed about this prohibition. Shri Mahaprabhuji invited the king and showed to him the stone Bahula cow partaking of the offered grass. The king was amazed and became disciple of Shri Mahaprabhuji. In his next life this king was born as Meha Dhemar.

There are two kunds (lakes) here. Radha Kund and Krushna Kund.

Radha dug out her kund (lake) with her fingernails (Radha Kund). Krishna  dug his kund (lake) with his flute. They are both internally connected. There are additional eight kunds of eight sakhis (friends of Radha) situated around here.

Shri Mahaprabhuji had seen Shri Radha and Krishna walking hand in hand into the Goverdhan mountain. Shri Mahaprabhuji approached the divine couple. He was ordered to accompany them.

Three days later he returned to this place and found his disciples in unconscious state. He sprinkled holy water all over his disciples and they all gained consciousness.

From Radha Kund Shri Mahaptabhuji proceeded to Kusum Sarovar. He met with Uddhava here and explained Bramar Gita to him. He discussed for thirty six hours the purport of a single line of Bhagavat. All of the devotees present there became so engrossed in the discourses that they did not suffer from any sleepiness, hunger or thirst. Such was the divine power of Shri Vallabhacharyaji Mahaprabhuji.

This Baithakji is located at the foothills of mount Goverdhan.

Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhuji used to worship in the nearby area. Knowing that Shri Mahaprabhuji had arrived in the area, he approached him. Mansi Ganga had told Him that Shri Mahaprabhuji will be coming there and will fulfill all his desires. The Mahaprabhuji sprinkled water into the eyes of Shri Krishna Chaitanya as well as over all the Vaishnavs around him. They all received spiritual insight and had the vision of the divine form of Mansi Ganga as being consisting of only milk. Everyone bathed in the divine lake. Soon after, the divine vision vanished.

Chakleshwar Mahadev (Shiva), daily came to listen to  Shri Mahaprabhuji.

It was here that a famous dialogue between Shri Mahaprabhuji and Shri Krishna Chaitanya took place. Shri Krishna Chaitanya said that in Kaliyug chanting of Lord's name even for a moment will give you liberation. Shri Mahaprabhuji had a different view. He said that the Kaliyug is so bad that even if you miss to recite Lord's name for a moment, you won't be liberated.
